WLNS - TV 6, along with several media partners will dedicate
a day to giving – to help local charities provide basic needs during the
holidays and throughout the year. The station encourages viewers across Mid-Michigan
to join in this effort.
We all know that financial hardships continue to plague
mid-Michigan residents. Families are losing their homes,
and looking for basic assistance at food pantries and shelters throughout the
area. Many are families with children who need help, and that’s where you fit
in.
Rally your friends, co-workers and classmates to help support
the less fortunate. Hold a clothing drive, a food drive or collect donations in
your school or workplace. Encourage everyone to make a difference – right here,
right now.
Non-Profit partners include: the United Way, the Salvation Army, the American
Red Cross, and the Greater Lansing Food Bank. Each of these agencies work to
impact the
lives of those who are in need; women,
children and families who have come
on hard times for whatever reason.
Volunteers from
these organizations will accept donations at the WLNS TV 6 Studios, 2820 East Saginaw Street, Lansing, and Allegiance Health, 205 North East Avenue
in Jackson. Additional
drop-off locations are planned in Charlotte and St Johns.
A Phone bank to accept cash donations will be operating between
12 Noon and 8PM, and on line donations can be made at www.wlns.com. A $5 text to give option will
also be available.
Mid-Michigan’s “Day of Giving” is made possible by
Auto-Owners Insurance. Additional partners include: WHTV – My18, WJXQ Q106 FM,
WLMI 92.9FM, Adams Outdoor, Williams Auto World, LEPFA, Skyline Outdoor, the
Jackson Citizen Patriot/Mlive.com and City Pulse.
The 6th Annual “Day of Giving” will be held on
Thursday, December 13th. With your help, we can impact the lives of those who
are struggling to provide for their families during the holiday season and
throughout the year.
